The HOSPA Education and Training Programme in Financial Management provides the first step to pursuing a career in business and finance in the hospitality sector.
The course content is based on best practice in the sector and follows the guidance and recommendations of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (2014 edition). The course offers three levels of study and successful completion of all three levels leads to Certified Associate Membership of HOSPA enabling members to use AHOSPA Cert (FM) in their business correspondence. This award confirms that the member has the skills and knowledge to manage a hospitality finance department.
Duration: 18 months to complete all three levels of study
Cost: £820 + VAT per stage plus postal costs* for the study pack.
Postage costs: UK included; Europe £35 GBP; Rest of World £45 GBP.
Entry Requirements: For all those seeking to learn more about hospitality finance and accounting. Ideally currently working in a finance role in hospitality or wishing to transfer into this area.
Start Dates: March or September each year
Course recognition: The course is endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality, demonstrating that they adhere to good practice standards in training and training delivery, are relevant to the needs of the industry and meet a wide range of essential criteria relating to quality standards and quality learning outcomes. The IoH particularly commended:
- The quality of materials and access to e-libraries and databases
- The work-based nature of the assessments
- The explicit timetable of events for each Stage/Level of the programmes
- The support mechanisms available to learners at Stage/Level and in particular, the Tutors
- The expertise of the staff involved in the running and support of the programmes, and the advisory committees

What will you study on the HOSPA Financial Management Programme?
The HOSPA Financial Management Education Programme is a flexible blended learning programme aimed at aspiring hospitality accounting professionals who wish to gain the necessary knowledge to be able to manage a hospitality finance department.
The course is studied in 3 stages; each of which takes 5 months to complete.
- Stage 1: Introduction to Financial Management
- Stage 2: Operational Management Accounting
- Stage 3: Strategic Management Accounting
No formal qualifications are required to enrol, but we suggest that learners are preferably working in the finance department of a hospitality organisation but we also welcome applications from operational managers and related roles.
