The Hospitality Professionals Association (HOSPA) has announced the launch of its latest educational initiative, the Revenue Management for Meeting Space programme, designed to help hospitality businesses capitalise on the projected growth of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector.
This new course marks a significant expansion of HOSPA’s professional development portfolio, providing industry professionals with the strategic tools to transform meeting rooms from underutilised areas into high-performing revenue generators.
The launch comes at a pivotal time, with global MICE trends for 2025-2030 indicating a surge in demand for sophisticated, technology-driven event spaces, with the sector having also doubled from £9bn in 2019 to an anticipated £18bn by 2029.
Developed by industry experts, the initial five-week introductory course, which includes a 5-week short course and a 5-week elective module, is structured to provide a comprehensive roadmap for commercial success. Over the duration of the programme, learners progress from the fundamentals of revenue management and diary optimisation to more advanced concepts including market segmentation and strategic yielding. The curriculum specifically focuses on:
Optimising Demand: Mastering diary management to avoid revenue dilution.
Strategic Segmentation: Targeting high-profitability market segments.
Value-Based Pricing: Implementing pricing strategies based on value rather than flat rates.
Performance Metrics: Tracking KPIs and conversion rates to measure success accurately.
The programme concludes with a final business-focused project, where learners are required to produce a customised revenue plan applied directly to their own venue.
The next cohort of learners is set to be welcomed on the 1st of June 2026, while the Foundation Certificate in Revenue for Meeting Space will launch in September 2026, with following intakes then set to run from March and September for future cohorts.
Janel Clark, Head of Professional Development at HOSPA, commented on the launch: "All too often meeting rooms sit empty or are booked at the wrong rate, leaving potential hotel revenue on the table. The fundamentals of the new Meeting Space programme centres on the question of “What if you could transform that space into one of your most profitable assets?” Developed with extensive industry expertise, this programme helps hospitality professionals maximise profitability through smarter commercial decisions. Whether you’re a General Manager or an M&E Office Manager, the training drives sustainable growth for your operation.."
The programme is delivered via HOSPA’s flexible online learning platform, requiring four to five hours of study per week. This format allows professionals to upskill alongside their current roles, supported by expert tutors, while also offering access to the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management.
Alex Drinkwater, HOSPA Professional Development Course Tutor, who was instrumental in the course’s creation, added: "I’m incredibly excited to be delivering this course. At a time when significant MICE sector growth is forecast, it gives businesses a practical way to upskill their teams with expertise they can confidently bring in-house. Whether that's by diversifying revenue streams, capitalising on technology or strengthening forecasting confidence, the course provides you with the tools and insight needed to thrive in a growing segment of the industry."
The introduction of this course follows a period of exceptional academic performance for HOSPA PD, which maintains a 95% success rate among its students. Participants in the new programme will also receive a complimentary HOSPA membership, further integrating them into a network of leading hospitality professionals.
Also commenting on the new course, Jane Pendlebury, CEO of HOSPA, said: "Meeting space is an often overlooked asset, but it’s a powerful profit generator when managed with the same rigour as guest rooms. This training gives our members the tools to forecast demand accurately and price space strategically. We are delighted to open registrations for our March and September 2026 intakes and look forward to helping venues unlock their full potential."
