The HOSPA Board:
In 2014 The HOSPA Board ratified the appointment of the Association’s Deputy Chairman Chris Upton as the new Chairman of the Hospitality Professionals Association
Chris Upton is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in senior financial positions in the hospitality sector for over 20 years. He has been finance director of a number of hotel, pub and restaurant groups. Before that, he held senior positions in finance and IT at a number of commodity trading companies. He was Finance Director of Arcadian International plc for seven years – during which time the company developed a group of four-star country house hotels, started the Malmaison group and renovated the Great Eastern Hotel in the City of London.
He was a founder and non-executive director of Pod Food; and
co-founded Snoozebox Plc, an innovative portable hotel concept. In addition, he is currently non-executive director of a London hotel company and runs a consultancy practice, C U Associates Ltd, specialising in hospitality. He was appointed to the then BAHA Council in 2007 and served as Deputy Chairman until his new appointment as HOSPA Chairman September 2014.
Jane Pendlebury is a successful and well-known personality within the worldwide hospitality arena, her career has been dedicated to hospitality. Ambition and enthusiasm have resulted in high achievements and recognition in the field.
Jane ran the Membership and Events office for HOSPA from 2014-2016 before being promoted to CEO. Her involvement in HOSPA (previously BAHA) started many years ago as a Member and a Corporate Gold Sponsor. Jane has been part of the operations team for HOSPACE since 2010.
Diana is not only HOSPA’s treasurer - but also takes responsibility for HOSPA’s data management. Diana is part of MRMD - an asset management consultancy specialising in hotels, restaurants, and resorts. MRMD provides advisory services to enable owners, investors, lenders, operating companies or managers to achieve the full potential of their businesses.
David currently works for the Jumeirah Group as Vice President of Finance in Europe. He looks after six hotels including three in London, one in Frankfurt , one in Mallorca and another one in Istanbul.
He also oversees the administration of Jumeirah's Global Sales Offices in Europe.
Michael Heyward is the principal of the consulting business, Heyward Hospitality Solutions delivering business process improvement and profit optimisation for the hospitality industry. A Hospitality Lecturer at Glion Institute of Higher Education (London) and Chairman of the HOSPA Revenue Management Committee.
Michael has over 25 years of experience in the Hospitality Industry, in revenue management, hotel operations and corporate roles. This includes independent hotels, IHG and Accor, from 3 to 5 star across Europe, Asia and the Pacific. With a proven track record for delivering market out performance in revenue and developing teams of highly skilled, diverse, competitive people.
Rob is Director/owner of Kerry Robert Associates, providing financial recruitment solutions to the hospitality sector for over 25 years at middle to senior levels, throughout the UK and overseas.
As HOSPA Membership Officer, he is actively involved in promoting best practice in finance and accounting, revenue management and IT and encouraging career development through HOSPA educational programmes and networking events.
David has worked for over 30 years within the Hospitality industry both internationally and within the UK, of which almost 25 years within the Hospitality IT Sector.
His experience has encompassed most of the industry, from large international hotel groups such as IHG, management companies such as Bespoke Hotels through to luxury boutique hotels such as Red Carnation Hotel Collection. Now the Head of IT at the 785 room Strand Palace hotel, David says it is the industry’s vitality and desire to keep changing and trying to exceed its guest’s expectations that keep him excited. It is this constant change that sets the challenge for the IT Community to seek greater engagement between the Business and IT, and to share “best practice and innovation” throughout the industry as a key driver for his tenure as Chair of the HOSPA IT Committee.
Chris is CEO of Eproductive Ltd which provides EPS, the People Management System to hotels and an EPOS system to charity retailers.
With a background in international hospitality management Chris co-founded and coordinates fiftytwenty, the hospitality leaders' network and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. He has also been a volunteer NED/Trustee at St Martin-in-the-Fields for nearly 30 years
David has more than 30 years’ experience in the hotel industry, eleven of which as an independent asset manager. He has run his own business - Adafabridge Hotel Consultancy Ltd - since 2005, prior to that he has held senior positions with JLL Hotels, Westmont Management and Sheraton Hotels. David leads HOSPA’s Asset Management community.
Professor Emeritus, specialist in strategic management in hospitality and food service with international experience in Europe, China and Australia.
Peter has extensive project management expertise in developing educational projects for the hospitality sector in both Higher Education and in the business environment.
Bob Silk is a relationship director at Barclays Bank for clients in the hospitality sector. He is a specialist in funding multi-site hotel, restaurant & pub businesses; mergers, acquisitions & new site development, via bilateral and multi-bank lines of credit, including extensive experience with Venture Capital backed businesses.

Tristan looks after all the administration for the HOSPA Membership and Events office. If he doesn’t know the answer to your query, Tristan will connect you with someone who can help! Alongside a full-time role at HOSPA, Tristan is also studying on the HOSPA Finance course. He joined HOSPA just as COVID-19 took hold, so started his career with HOSPA as a remote worker.
Katherine is a journalist with over 15 years' experience in hotels, technology and people who dress up like cowboys in Essex. A former editor of Hotel Report, she now freelances for Hotel Analyst and provides consultancy and content for a number of sector players.
Prior to making her move into hospitality, Katherine worked for publications including the Financial Times, The Guardian, Business 2.0, Q and Mojo. She has just finished her first novel and helps to run an interactive story night in Brighton called Rattle Tales.
Abbie-Jaye Wilson is Operations Director at Pic PR,
Pic PR is a communications agency which specialises in the hospitality industry – delivering PR, social, video, design and SEO support to a broad range of hospitality clients.

Helen has been working with the HOSPA team for nearly 3 years, prior to that she worked in corporate social responsibility for Hotcourses Ltd, working on projects in Kenya.
She also spent 14 years working at Guardian Newspapers most recently heading up the commercial sponsorship and projects department. She has two teenage children and a dog called Smudge.
